Easy Rider findings due this week

The findings of an investigation into how the Easy Rider fishing vessel capsized in Foveaux Strait last year, killing eight people, will be released on Friday.

A rogue wave slammed into the boat about midnight on March 12.

Skipper Rewai Karetai, 47, from Bluff, died, along with Boe Taikawa Gillies, 28, John Henry Karetai, 58, Peter Glen Pekamu-Bloxham, 53, Shane Ronald Topi, 29, Paul Jason Fowler-Karetai, 40, Odin Karetai, seven, and David George Fowler, 50, all from Invercargill.

Dallas Reedy, 44, survived after clinging for 16 hours to a petrol can before being rescued.

The Transport Accident Investigation Commission has completed its marine inquiry and will release it findings publicly at 5am on Friday morning.
