One of Whangarei's most dangerous intersections was the scene of an accident yesterday when a 48-year-old woman was hit by a ute.
The woman suffered mild to moderate injuries after being struck by the vehicle at Mill Rd and Nixon St around 3pm. She was taken to Whangarei Hospital. Acting Sergeant Geoff Bigwood said the incident occurred during heavy traffic.
Police were keen to remind pedestrians and drivers to take extra care at busy intersections.
It is understood the woman had been jogging when the accident happened.
