A 16-year-old accused of murdering Ashburton mum Sina Nerisa Solomona will stand trial in Timaru in November.

The youth, who has name suppression, had a trial date of November 4 set at a pre-trial callover at the High Court in Christchurch today.

Defence counsel Elizabeth Bulger said the trial has been set for two weeks, but said it was likely to last just over a week.

She asked for her client to be remanded in custody to another pre-trial conference on July 19 as she awaits more disclosure from police.

The youth was 15 when he allegedly murdered 22-year-old Ms Solomona at a house in Ashburton on December 15 last year.
