An ambulance and rescue helicopter are on the way to the scene of a dog attack in St Arnaud, in the Nelson Lakes region.
A St John ambulance southern communications spokesman said there was understood to be one patient, but their condition was not yet known.
A rescue helicopter had also been sent from Nelson. Emergency services were called about 11.55am.
