Schoolgirl denies sex charges

A schoolgirl has denied charges of sexually abusing young girls and making intimate recordings.

The 17-year-old appeared at the High Court at Auckland this morning where her lawyer Greg Bradford entered not guilty pleas on her behalf.

She faces two charges of doing an indecent act on a girl under 12, unlawful sexual connection and making intimate visual recordings.

Justice Timothy Brewer told the court he had received a report from a psychiatrist who identified her as a suicide risk and continued interim name suppression for the girl.

"It is important for you to continue at school. Your studies would be destroyed and the effect on your future would be extreme."

Justice Brewer remanded her on bail.
