A woman is dead after a crash near Rotorua this morning.
A police spokesman said the woman was in a car travelling south on State Highway 30 when it crashed with another vehicle, also travelling south, near Whirinaki Valley Rd about 7am.
"We believe it was two cars travelling in the same direction so we're trying to work out how that's occurred," the spokesman said.
The woman died at the scene. No one else was injured.
The police serious crash unit was at the scene.
