Smoke and flames could be seen coming from a restaurant in Matakana this morning after an electrical fire broke out in the roof.
Firefighters were called to the Rusty Pelican restaurant on Matakana Rd about 10.15am.
A witness said there was "lots of smoke and naked flames" coming out of the corner of the building, which is next to a Gull service station.
A Fire Service northern communications spokesman said an electrical fire in the roof had started in a light fitting.
There was no damage and nobody was injured.
