A man has been charged with murder after a woman was found dead at a block of council flats in Christchurch last night.
Police have named the dead woman as Valmai Jean McFie, 67.
A 59-year old man arrested last night was this evening been charged with her murder.
The man was believed to live in a nearby unit.
Police said they were called to a housing complex in Spreydon, just south of the Christchurch CBD, about 6.30pm yesterday when a resident reported the death of a woman.
Ms McFie's body was found outside one of the units in MacGibbon Place, a short cul-de-sac.
