Police and fire inspectors are investigating a suspicious primary school fire in Auckland today.
Emergency services were called to Point Chevalier School, on Te Ra Road at Point Chevalier, just before 4am, northern fire communications shift manager Nicole Bernard said.
When they arrived the two-storey building was "well involved", she said.
"The sprinkler system did not activate."
The blaze has now been extinguished and investigators were at the scene to determine what started the fire.
The building has been extensively damaged, she said.
There were no injuries reported.
