She then heard a loud bang and went to the window to see what
had happened. The woman said she saw the driver and a
passenger run from the car.
No one was inside the house when the crash happened but home
owner, Gary Yaxley, said if it had happened half an hour
earlier his wife and son would have been at home.
"My wife was taking my son to physio, he has a crook neck so
they were out when it happened," he said.
"I was at work then I got a phone call just telling me to
come home because a car had crashed through the house."
Mr Yaxley said his first thought was that he hoped everyone

He said the car had driven through the neighbour's hedge, the

"It has probably done a couple of grands' worth of damage,"
Mr Yaxley said.
He was told the car had driven down Osprey Dr and was turning

"This is not a dangerous area. We have lived here for 20
years and nothing like this has happened before."
A builder was at the house last night assessing the damage.
Police could not tell the Bay of Plenty Times if the driver
involved had been arrested.
