Alleged kidnapper Phillip Layton Edwards has been found by
The 33-year-old convicted killer was on the run after
allegedly kidnapping 2-year-old Gabriel Donnelly from the
toddler's Auckland house last month.
Police have confirmed Edwards and his associate Maryanne
Nahi, 25, were arrested at a house on Miranda Street in
Blockhouse Bay at 3am.
They were found after officers noticed a stolen vehicle
connected with Edwards was parked outside the address, police
Edwards will appear at Auckland District Court later today
charged with two counts of male assaults female, one count of
kidnapping and one count of unlawfully taking a vehicle.
Nahi will appear charged with being an accessory.
Edwards was released from prison last year after serving a
nine-year term for the manslaughter of fashion designer and
former television host David McNee in 2003.
Police found 2-year-old Gabriel Donnelly shirtless and
abandoned in a shed at the back of an Auckland property about
7.30pm on August 11.
He had been allegedly kidnapped by Edwards about 12.45pm that
Detective Inspector Scott Beard told Radio New Zealand the
child "was found cold, but unhurt''.
