The Navy has joined the search for a man missing since he
fell from his boat in the Marlborough Sounds early on
A jacket belonging to Craig Alfred Partridge, 45, of
Marlborough was found during a search by police yesterday.
Today members of the Navy joined the police maritime unit
onboard the Lady Elizabeth lV searching the Endeavour Inlet
The Navy had sonar equipment which would provide an accurate
picture of the seabed within the search area and the results
would be available later this afternoon, police said.
Police recovered Mr Partridge's jacket today while searching
in the area, near the entrance of Queen Charlotte Sound,
Mr Partridge had been at Furneaux Lodge on Monday night
playing pool and "having a few beers" with his daughter and
Bar staff say the trio were going to stay the night on their
14-metre launch tied to the jetty.
It appeared they then decided to leave the lodge, and were
motoring through Endeavour Inlet, probably bound for the
man's bach at Marine Heads, near Ships Cove, when Mr
Partridge fell in about 2am.
He was not wearing a lifejacket, police say.
