Parts of Wellington railway station may require
KiwiRail chief executive Jim Quinn said engineering advice
was the station was likely to be above the minimum 34 per
cent of building standard.
However, a more detailed investigation would show whether
action was needed on three areas: the internal office stairs,
the main atrium concourse and the building's facade.
Mr Quinn said engineers were looking at the risks and how
they could be addressed.
"This building is a Wellington landmark and a rich piece of
our history. The safety of those who occupy and use it is our
top priority," Mr Quinn said.
