Air New Zealand flights have been brought to a standstill
at Los Angeles airport following a fatal shooting incident.
A gunman with a semi-automatic weapon shot three people,
killing a federal security agent, at the Los Angeles airport,
the Associated Press (AP) reported.
A suspect was in custody and flights were disrupted
An Air New Zealand spokeswoman said the terminal from which
Air New Zealand operated had been evacuated and traffic
around the airport was at a standstill.
Flights both in and and out of Los Angeles airport were
expected to be impacted by the incident.
NZ6 from Auckland to Los Angeles had recently landed, NZ2
from Auckland to Los Angeles was due in later this morning
and NZ1 from London to Los Angeles was due in later this
"At this stage passengers will be disembarked at an alternate
terminal, but again disruption is likely."
Air New Zealand had three further flights due to depart Los
Angeles airport today - NZ2 from Los Angeles to London, NZ5
from Los Angeles to Auckland and NZ1 from Los Angeles to
Air New Zealand passengers requiring further information were
advised to call the Air New Zealand contact centre on 0800
737 000, or 1800 262 1234 (United States).
