Teen arrested after fatal shooting

A man found dead in a suspected shooting in Bay of Plenty early this morning has been identified.

Isaac Dale Bushell, 46, was discovered in a park on Beach Rd, Maketu, shortly before 2am.

His injuries were indicative of gunshot wounds, and he was found after two people overheard an incident in the park, police said.

A 19-year-old Maketu man has been charged with murder and will appear in court tomorrow.

It is understood the teen and Mr Bushell were known to each other, and had attended the same social gathering at a local property earlier in the evening, police said.

"Scene examinations and enquiries are ongoing and police are still keen to hear from anyone with information about this death.

"They particularly want to hear from anyone who heard any gunshots who may be able to assist police with the exact time the incident occurred," police said.

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out tomorrow.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Tauranga Police on 07 577 4300 or anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
