Group sought over attack on tourist

A group of people, shown in CCTV footage, is being sought by police in relation to an attack on a German tourist in Christchurch.

The tourist said he had been attacked by three males at the bus exchange on Lichfield St about 1.25am on Saturday.

Detective Sergeant Joel Syme said the group of two males and two females pictured were not necessarily involved in the incident.

"They are simply persons of interest as they were in the vicinity of the bus exchange before and after the robbery.

"We are keen to speak to them as they may have seen something, or may have information that can help us identify the offenders."

They, or anyone else with information, were asked to contact Constable Caroline Johnson on (03) 3637404 or Christchurch central police on (03) 3637400.

Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
