A 16-year-old mpoed rider died last night after colliding with a car in Palmerston North.
Police central communications shift Inspector Chris Tate said the crash occurred at the intersection of Rangitikei and Featherston Sts just after 10pm.
The police serious crash unit were investigating and the road has since been cleared.
The teenager was initially reported to have been riding a motorcycle, but police later clarified he was riding a moped.
No further details could be released until the investigation had been completed and the young man's family notified.
