A woman who was kicked by a horse has been flown to hospital with serious head injuries.
Rotorua emergency services were called to a farm on State Highway 5 near Fitzgerald Glade to attend to the local woman at 8.30pm yesterday.
Neighbours helped the 60-year-old until an ambulance arrived. Fire staff also attended and set up a landing zone for the Rotorua-based BayTrust Rescue Helicopter.
Aircrew used night vision goggles to airlift the woman to Waikato Hospital.
