Man dies in Rotorua city centre

Rotorua emergency services were called to the central city at lunchtime after a parking warden found a man collapsed in his parked car on Tutanekai St today.

The warden and an off duty nurse dragged him from his car and attempted to resuscitate him using CPR for 20 minutes with the help of St John Ambulance paramedics but were unsuccessful, Sergeant Chris McLeod said.

It is believed the man, who may have been in his 50s and a visitor to Rotorua, may have had a cardiac arrest, Mr McLeod said.
