A three-year-old child has been fatally injured in an accident involving a tractor on an East Coast farm.
The accident happened about 5pm yesterday, Senior Sergeant Maui Aben told The Gisborne Herald today.
"The child was fatally injured in the crash on a farm at Ruatoria," he said.
Police are investigating the accident.
"We are working with the family around this tragic incident."
No other details have been released.
