Firefighters have brought a blaze at Jacks Point, near
Queenstown, under control.
The fire broke out just before noon, and raged on a
gorse-covered hill between the Jacks Point clubhouse and Lake
It was fanned by strong winds and was travelling in a
southerly direction towards Kingston.
Monsoon buckets, filled from Lake Tewa by the Jacks Point
clubhouse, are still dumping water on the site but the worst
appears to be over.
