A wallet and a pair of shoes and socks believed to belong to
a missing Christchurch man have been found on a West Coast
Kurt Green, 30, who has a diminished mental capacity, was
reported missing at the weekend. He was last seen in the
Sydenham area in Christchurch on March 8. However, today
police stated that Mr Green had travelled to Greymouth that
According to Greymouth police Detective Sergeant Gavin
Nichols, Mr Green travelled to Greymouth with friends on
Saturday March 8 and stayed the night with friends in
"He was last seen walking away from the address towards the
Mr Nichols said that last Tuesday, during a beach clean-up
some of Mr Green's personal property, including his wallet
and shoes and socks were found.
"The people doing the clean up handed them in to police.
Mr Nichols said that members of Mr Green's family had raised
concerns about him as they had not heard from him for over a
week, which was out of character.
"We are now in the process of trying to find out whether Mr
Green made it beyond the tiphead and we need to hear from
anyone who has information about where Mr Green might be."
The last confirmed sighting of Mr Green was well over a week
ago and on the Blaketown beach - "so we are very concerned
Mr Nichols urged anyone who had information about Mr Green to
contact their local police station immediately.
"We are also speaking with the person who discovered the
items belonging to Mr Green. They will be showing us where
they were found and it is likely we will be co-ordinating a
