The elderly woman who died in a head-on crash north of Wellington yesterday has been named by police.
She was 84-year-old Gloria Adair Good, of Waikawa Beach at Levin.
The crash happened on State Highway 1 at Manakau in Horowhenua about 1pm.
Ms Good was driving a Toyota when it appeared to cross the centreline and into the path of a Mitsubishi 4WD, police said.
She died at the scene.
The sole occupant of the other vehicle, an 80-year-old man, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Palmerston North Hospital as a precaution.
Inquiries into the cause of the crash were continuing, police said.
