Man critical after Gisborne shooting

A 39-year-old man shot in an early morning incident in Gisborne is not dead, as previously reported.

Police said this morning the man had died in hospital as a result of his injuries; however, new information shows he is still alive and fighting for his life.

The man remains in a ''very serious and critical'' condition, police say.

Police and ambulance staff were called to an address in Te Hapara early this morning following a shooting incident.

Three people were speaking with police about the incident. No one else is being sought in relation to it.
