A 36-year-old man has been hospitalised with stab wounds and a serious head injury following an incident at a home in Tuakau, south of Auckland, earlier today.
Police said an investigation into the incident had been launched after the man was found by a family member about 12pm.
He was being treated at Middlemore Hospital's intensive care unit.
"It is too soon to determine the motive for the attack and police will be conducting at thorough investigation," Acting Detective Sergeant Lee Warden of Counties Manukau police said.
The property would remain cordoned off overnight as police continued to investigate the incident.
