Airport fog delays regional flights

Fog at Auckland Airport has delayed a number of regional flights this morning.

Auckland Airport spokesman Simon Lambourne said flight restrictions were put in place around 5am and 11 regional arrivals and six regional departures had been delayed.

Main trunk flights and international flights had not been affected by the fog, he said.

Passengers were advised to check the airport's website www.aucklandairport.co.nz or iPhone App for the latest flight arrival and departure information.

Air New Zealand spokeswoman Brigitte Ransom said the fog had caused disruption to the airline's regional Link services.

‘‘One return service between Auckland and Rotorua has been cancelled and several services have been delayed."

MetService duty forecaster Liz Walsh said the fog was patchy and was looking like it would remain until around 9am, when southwesterly winds would dissipate the fog.
