Seven in hospital after Canterbury crash

Seven people were taken to hospital last night following a head-on crash in Canterbury.

The crash occurred around 7.30pm on the the Winchester-Geraldine Rd.

Southern police communications shift inspector Lindsay Turner said the crash occurred at an intersection.

Two patients were flown by rescue helicopter to Christchurch Hospital, one with serious injuries and the other with minor injuries.

The remaining five patients were taken to Timaru Hospital, four with moderate injuries and one with serious injuries.
