A 2-year-old boy has died after he was hit by a car in the carpark of a KFC in central Napier this afternoon.
Police said it appeared the 28-month-old ran out in front of the moving car at KFC on Thackeray St.
He was taken to the nearby Napier Medical Centre but died shortly after.
Police were alerted at 3.20pm and were speaking to the driver of the car.
The police serious crash unit was investigating and the KFC carpark was closed off.
