Truck rolls in Lower Buller Gorge

A light truck hit ice and rolled four times near Fuchsia Creek, in the Lower Buller Gorge, this morning.

Westport police community constable Paul Sampson said the WestReef Services truck was travelling from Westport towards Inangahua when it hit the ice, lost control and rolled about 8am.

St John Buller territorial manager Robbie Blankenstein said the truck's two male occupants suffered minor injuries including bruises, bumps and small cuts.

Firefighters were called to the crash.

Fire chief Pat O'Dea said the truck had struck thick ice on a bridge.
