Driver hurt when logging truck rolls

A truck driver was injured after his logging truck and trailer rolled in Canterbury early today.

The truck was bound for the Port of Timaru when the crash happened on a moderate bend on Arundel Rakaia Gorge Road, near Mt Somers, police said.

The road was closed for five hours with diversions put in place.

The 39-year-old driver was flown to Christchurch Hospital by Westpac Rescue helicopter with a broken rib and bruising, police said.

The cause of the crash was still being investigated.
