The top of the North Island continues to cop wet weather as a
band of heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms moves south
from Northland towards Auckland.
The worst of the rain was expected to hit Auckland late this
afternoon, WeatherWatch analyst Philip Duncan said.
"There is a risk of localised surface and flash flooding.
"An isolated funnel cloud or burst of wind is also possible,
however we believe rain and isolated thunder are the main

Hazards to watch for include limited visibility for
motorists, surface flooding in localised areas, isolated

MetService had a severe weather watch for Bay of Plenty and
Rotorua, where localised heavy rain was possible tomorrow
Meteorologist Philippa Murdoch said storms and showers were
also expected to move down the North Island today.
Showers were expected for much of the country of the weekend
before a welcome high next week.
