Teen stabbed at Christchurch party

A teenager who was stabbed in the neck during a fight at a party in Christchurch overnight is recovering well in hospital.

The 19-year-old was rushed to Christchurch Hospital in a serious condition with stab wounds, including one to his neck, following disorder in Marshland Rd, Shirley, shortly before midnight.

The teen was currently in a stable condition, a spokesman for the hospital said.

It is believed his wounds are not life-threatening.

The disorder broke out near the Marshland Rd-Briggs Rd intersection and police were called about 11.50pm, Senior Sergeant Angela Grace said.

No one has yet been arrested for the stabbing, and Ms Grace did not know if police were looking for anyone in relation to the incident.

"The information we have is that once we arrived those who called us, witnesses at the scene and the victims we came across were reluctant to speak to us," she said.

"We didn't end up with a lot of details."

People had dispersed quickly once police arrived, she said.
