A Christchurch motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in a suspected hit and run this morning.
Police are hunting the driver of a dark grey four-door Subaru Legacy that hit the motorbike on Selwyn Rd just before 6.45am.
The motorbike was travelling Selwyn Rd towards Christchurch when the car reportedly turned in front of the bike onto Robinsons Rd.
Witnesses said the bike hit the front passenger side of the car.
"The car has continued on without stopping and may have been heading towards the Rolleston area," a police statement said.
The rider was taken to Christchurch Hospital with suspected injuries to his arm, leg and stomach.
Police ask anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have seen a dark grey Subaru Legacy with damage to the front/nearside area this morning to urgently contact Christchurch police on 03 363 7400. Alternatively information can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
