One killed in Auckland crash

One person has died after a car and truck collided just north of Auckland, in the first road death of the long Labour weekend.

The Fire Service has told ONE News one person died in the crash on Horseshoe Bush Rd at Dairy Flat.

Emergency services were called at 4.30pm.

Fire communications said the patient was in critical condition when emergency services arrived and died at the scene.

Police said another person has been transported to North Shore Hospital with minor injuries.

Emergency services remained at the scene, and the Police Serious Crash Unit were investigating.

Police said diversions were in place at Kahikatea Flat Rd, Wilks Rd and Dairy Flat Highway.

Delays could be expected and motorists were being urged to avoid the area if possible, NZTA said on their website.

A detour route was available, NZTA said.
