Witnesses sought to crash near Hanmer

A man and woman were taken to hospital by helicopter after their Land Rover rolled down a bank on State Highway 7 near Hanmer Springs last night.

Canterbury police are appealing to witnesses to the single vehicle crash about 6pm last night, 20 minutes west of the Hanmer Springs turnoff.

The 25-year-old male driver and his 44-year-old female passenger were taken to Christchurch Hospital by helicopter and discharged from hospital this morning.

Police understand the vehicle was travelling west on SH7 and that there were a number of other vehicles in the vicinity at the time of the crash.
