Police still seeking alleged gunman

Motueka man who allegedly presented a firearm at a group of people has still not been caught by police.

Jahdai Kennard, 27, allegedly presented the firearm at a group of people about midday on Wednesday at Thorpes Bush in Motueka.

No shots were fired and the man then left in a vehicle, police said.

Police were still receiving information from the public as to the whereabouts of Kennard and were continuing with their search, police spokeswoman Barbara Dunn said.

"Yesterday we received information from a member of the public that he had been sighted in a particular area so we put cordons in place and searched the property but he wasn't located," she said.

Police described Kennard as Maori, about 179cm tall, and of medium build.

Police said he was considered dangerous and should not be approached.

Ms Kennard said police were continuing to work through information they were receiving.
