The winning ticket in tonight's Big Wednesday lotto draw was bought in Pt Chevalier, Auckland.
The ticket holder won $9 million with Big Wednesday First Division and $87,689 with Big Wednesday Second Division.
The winning ticket was sold at Pt Chevalier Lotto Plus.
The win comes just days after a Hamilton player won $16.2 million with Powerball First Division on a ticket purchased at Countdown Hamilton. Lotto New Zealand is still waiting for the winner to claim their prize, which is the 11th largest Powerball prize ever won and the largest prize ever to be won in Hamilton.
"This is the second major win in just a few days," said head of corporate communications Emilia Mazur.
"And carries on an amazing winning streak for Big Wednesday and Powerball players in 2014."
