A man killed in a crash in Palmerston North on Wednesday night has been named as Luke Carl Keenan.
Police said they were still investigating the crash that killed the 25-year-old passenger.
Officers were continuing to speak to a 23-year-old male driver to establish the sequence of events that led to the crash, police said.
Police said a member of the public came across the wreckage of the vehicle yesterday morning after the car went off the Tennant Drive and hit a tree on Wednesday night.
Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Sheridan, officer in charge of the Manawatu CIB said: "A scene examination has been completed but we are still very much in an information gathering phase.
"Until we have completed a thorough investigation, it is too early to comment on potential charges."
The death has been referred to the Coroner.
