Stabbings: Husband in court

A young couple who were stabbed yesterday remain in stable condition in Auckland City Hospital after surgery overnight for their wounds.

A man who allegedly murdered his estranged wife and stabbed his daughter and her partner will appear in the North Shore District Court in the next few hours.

Brent Scott is accused of stabbing to death Heidi Welman-Scott, 41, and attempting to kill stepdaughter Taryn Welman, 22, and her boyfriend Matija Miletic, also 22, in Auckland yesterday.

Ms Welman and Mr Miletic are recovering in Auckland City Hospital in a stable condition after undergoing emergency surgery for stab wounds to their torsos yesterday.

Scott has been charged with murder and two counts of attempted mrder.

Mrs Welman-Scott's family were not ready to speak about the incident this morning.
