Emergency services are on the scene of a fatal microlight crash near Timaru.
St John ambulance and police have confirmed a microlight plane has crashed in the area about 7.30pm.
The two occupants were confirmed dead at the scene.
The crash happened in Seadown, a coastal town halfway between Timaru and Temuka, a St John spokesman said.
He said ambulance crews attended but were not required and the incident was now being dealt with by police.
A fire crew from Washdyke also attended the incident.
