Dead Westport teenage named

 A teenager who died when a car he was travelling in crashed down a steep bank on the West Coast of the South Island has today been named by police.

Danny O'Donnell, a 19-year-old from Waiau, in North Canterbury, died in the crash on Tauranga Bay Rd, near Westport, on Monday.

Mr O'Donnell was a rear seat passenger in the car carrying five people.

Police say a serious crash investigation is ongoing.

No charges have yet been laid.
