A hunter had to be airlifted to hospital yesterday after he was attacked by a swarm of angry bees in the Bell Hill area.
NZCC Rescue Helicopter pilot Angus Taylor said the man had a "bad reaction" after being stung by about 20 bees, and was resuscitated by his two companions before help arrived about lunchtime.
He was unconscious when the helicopter touched down and was flown directly to Grey Base Hospital.
