The man killed in a collision on State Highway 33 at Paengaroa yesterday has been named.
He was Ian Barton Foote (47), from Te Puke.
Mr Foote died at the scene of the head-on crash in Western Bay of Plenty.
The driver of the second vehicle, a Hamilton resident, was taken to Tauranga Hospital with serious injuries, and is still being treated.
Acting senior sergeant Phil Gillbanks, of Tauranga, said police were still assessing evidence and information from witnesses.
The collision was the sixth fatal crash in the Western Bay of Plenty this year.
