A man has died in a workplace incident at a quarry in the western Bay of Plenty.
The 25-year-old man became trapped after a 45 tonne rock cutter tipped in the Oropi Quarry on McPhail Rd, near Tauranga, around midday, police said.
Emergency services were called, but he died at the scene.
The Fire Service were working on righting the vehicle to remove the man from underneath, police said.
The Police Serious Crash unit would investigate the cause of the incident, and WorkSafe New Zealand had been notified.
