Police chase slow-mo driver

A suspected drunk-driver led police on a 40-minute chase south of Auckland - at half the speed limit.

The pursuit began on Porchester Rd, Papakura, shortly before 6pm yesterday when officers spotted a car driving "erratically".

Police followed but the car refused to pull over, despite driving at 50km/h in a 100km/h zone.

A second patrol car joined the chase but the driver still refused to pull over.

The chase lasted 38 minutes before the vehicle ran over police spikes in Pukekohe.

Two men were last night in custody and the driver, a man in his 50s, would likely face numerous driving-related charges.

It was not clear whether the other man, thought to be in his 30s, would be charged.
