A woman suffered life-threatening injuries when she was struck by a train in Tauranga this evening.
Emergency services were called to Ngatai Rd in Bellevue after the pedestrian, believed to be in her 40s, was struck about 8.30pm.
She was taken to hospital.
Police said the circumstances of the incident were not known at this time.
