Police say the pedestrian killed in a car crash on Friday was a Whakatane teenager.
Raiden Howden (17) died after a car struck him on Keepa Rd at about 8.50pm.
The cause of the crash was still under investigation, police said.
Meanwhile, police were still investigating a separate fatal crash that happened on Saturday night in the Awakeri area of Whakatane.
In that crash, another 17 year-old male was killed but his name has not yet been released.
