A man has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a head on car crash in the western Bay of Plenty.
Emergency Services are at the scene on State Highway 33, Paengaroa.
One male was initially trapped in a car and had to be extracted by the Fire Service.
He is listed as Status 1, with life-threatening injuries.
Two other males involved are listed as Status 2, with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The crash occurred at 5.30pm and there are diversions in place at State Highway 33 / Maniatutu Road and State Highway 33 and State Highway 2.
Emergency services will be working to clear the highway as soon as is possible but there will be lengthy delays until the scene is clear.
