A large fire at a mechanical workshop in Henderson has been contained.
Fire Service northern communications manager Colin Underdown said the building was well alight when the first crews arrived shortly after 5am this morning.
"The fire was in the rear of the building," he said.
It took several crews more than an hour and a half to contain the blaze.
The Fire Service would remain at the scene on Trading Place in West Auckland for some time.
