A 2-year-old hit by a car after he ran out onto Mt Eden Rd yesterday remains in a critical condition at Starship Hospital this morning.
He is listed as being stable, but has severe injuries.
Police will continue the investigation into the incident today. The car that collided with the boy and his grandmother, who was trying to stop him running out onto the road, will be examined by the serious crash unit.
However, police said yesterday the crash was a clear accident and the driver's actions were not thought to be a factor.
